PRIVATE TOURS IN FLAM
Flam Private Tours
Flam is a village at the end of a fjord arm that receives cruise ships and one of the steepest railways in the world. If you are already in the valley, two hours buys the Stegastein platform 650 metres above the water. A longer day buys the railway up and the way back down on two wheels. Whichever day you pick, a private guide plans it and leads it.
- Short routes for cruise and rail arrivals
- Stegastein sits 650 metres above the fjord
- The full Sognefjord day starts in Bergen

CHOOSE BY TIME
Two hours, half a day, or a full fjord day
What fits depends on whether you are staying in the valley or coming from Bergen.
Short
Stegastein viewpoint — about two hours
Two hours is enough for the single best view in the valley. The Snow Road hairpins up from Aurland, and at the top a wooden platform hangs 650 metres over the Aurlandsfjord, ending in a pane of glass where a railing ought to be. You are back at the pier before your ship has finished lunch. Runs year-round, weather permitting on the mountain — the shortest serious thing you can do in Flam.
Active
Railway and descent — four to five hours
This is the valley split in two: the Flam Railway owns the way up, and the way down belongs to you — two wheels on the Rallarvegen, waterfall spray, a goat farm that takes its cheese seriously. Add Scandinavia's longest zipline and four hours become five. Bikes roll from 2 May to 9 October, and this is the choice for a longer shore call — the descent refuses to be hurried.
Full day
Sognefjord from Bergen — a full day
The eleven-hour day belongs to travellers for whom Flam is the destination, not the base: it starts in Bergen, crosses the mountains past the Stalheim overlook, sails the length of the Naeroyfjord — UNESCO-listed, cliffs to 1,400 metres — and rides the railway out of the valley. If you are already staying in Flam, you are standing in the middle of it.
Arriving in Flam on a cruise call?
The pier is in the village itself, so the short routes work well on a call - the Stegastein drive fits comfortably inside most port windows. Send the ship and the all-aboard time and we will say which version fits. Fjord shore excursions covers the port-safe list.

Tell us when you are in the valley
Two hours or a full day - we answer with the version your schedule can carry.
Send the date, the group size and how you arrive: ship, train or car. If you are based in Bergen, say so - the Sognefjord day starts there, not here.
Sending a request does not confirm a booking or take payment. We check availability first and send the full route, price and booking terms before you decide.
