Private full days from Alesund

Alesund Fjords To Trolls Private Day

Alesund is the doorway to three different full days — pick one, not a blur of all three: the Trollstigen mountain road and the Eagle Road lookout over Geirangerfjord in 8.5 hours, Geirangerfjord itself from the water in 10, or the Briksdal Glacier with the Loen Skylift in 9.5.

WHAT YOU SEE AND HEAR

Three full days from Alesund — choose road, fjord or ice

  • Trollstigen and Eagle Road route: Stordal, Storfjorden views, Trollstigen, Romsdal Valley peaks and the Eagle Road lookout over Geirangerfjord.
  • Geirangerfjord in a Nutshell route: Hellesylt ferry boarding, Geirangerfjord crossing, Geiranger, Eagle Road viewpoint, Eidsdal-Linge ferry and return to Alesund.
  • Briksdal Glacier route: Stranda, Stryn, Hellesylt viewpoint, Loen Skylift, Briksdalsbre Fjellstove and the glacier trail viewpoint.
  • Choose one route: mountain road, fjord crossing or glacier. Each is a complete day.

The Trollstigen day is for the road: hairpins stacked up a mountain wall, peaks named The King, The Queen and The Bishop watching you climb, and the Eagle Road's eleven bends for dessert. The lookout at the top of those bends opens straight onto Geirangerfjord, 600 metres below, with the abandoned Knivsfla farm clinging to the far wall. Pure driving theatre, and not a ticket in sight.

The Geirangerfjord day is for the water: a ferry cruise down the UNESCO fjord past the Seven Sisters falls, then the Eagle Road lookout 600 metres above the water you just sailed. Ferries and cruise tickets are included.

The Briksdal day is for the ice: out past Hellesylt to the Loen Skylift — a gondola that gains a mountain in five minutes — then the walk up to the Briksdal Glacier, an arm of the largest glacier in continental Europe, close enough to feel its cold breath. Skylift admission included.

Tour style

  • One appetite per day: road, fjord or ice. The days don't mix — that's what makes each of them good.

PAID SEPARATELY

What's not in the price

  • Lunch en route — village stops are planned for it.
  • Extra viewpoint time where the chosen day allows.

WHY YOU'LL LIKE IT

Why you choose one day, not a sampler

  • Each route is a committed full day — 8.5 to 10 hours of the thing you actually came for.
  • Geiranger's cruise tickets and Briksdal's Skylift are already in the price — nothing famous is left off the ticket.
  • Trollstigen rewards drivers' weather; Geiranger rewards calm water; Briksdal rewards clear skies — we advise by forecast, not by brochure.
  • Your driver-guide handles the ferries, the tolls and the timing; you handle the window seat.
  • For a Norway-wide route menu, compare private tours in Norway and Norway fjord tours.
  • For the focused Geiranger viewpoint product, use the Geiranger Dalsnibba and Eagle Road private tour.
  • Staying in town instead? The Alesund Art Nouveau private walk covers the rebuilt centre in about three hours.

PROGRAM

Tour overview

Tour overview

Start from Alesund hotel or cruise port with one full-day product selected.

The first choice is road, fjord or glacier; combining all three would turn the day into a map exercise.

For Trollstigen and Eagle Road, drive via Stordal and Storfjorden toward Trollstigen and the Romsdal mountain scenery.

Trollstigen/Eagle Road is the classic mountain-road version and has no required admissions — and it still ends above Geirangerfjord, at the Eagle Road lookout.

For Geirangerfjord in a Nutshell, drive to Hellesylt, take the Geirangerfjord ferry, continue through Geiranger and use the Eagle Road viewpoint.

Geirangerfjord in a Nutshell includes the ferry/cruise pieces that make the day work as a fjord crossing, not just a viewpoint drive.

For Briksdal Glacier, drive through Stranda and Stryn, stop near Hellesylt and Loen, use Loen Skylift, then walk the glacier trail viewpoint.

Briksdal Glacier includes Loen Skylift admission and ends with a trail viewpoint near the glacier, not glacier hiking.

Return to Alesund with the port or hotel finish protected.

Extra stops are considered only after the return to Alesund is protected.

QUESTIONS WE OFTEN HEAR

Before you book this tour

Three days, one page of straight answers.

Which day should we pick?

Road-lovers: Trollstigen. Fjord-first: Geiranger. Glacier weather: Briksdal. Both mountain days finish at the same Eagle Road lookout over Geirangerfjord — the difference is that the Geiranger day also puts you on the water, sailing the fjord you otherwise only look down on. Undecided groups get our recommendation for the forecast.

Are these combinable?

Not in one day — each already fills 8.5–10 hours. Two days in Alesund fit two of them beautifully.

What is included?

The vehicle, driver-guide and the route's named tickets: ferries and cruise for Geiranger, Skylift for Briksdal.

Is this private?

Yes — the ferries are public crossings, everything else is yours.

Can cruise guests book these?

Only long Alesund calls. We check your hours before recommending a route.
